Ik heb altijd tijdens het maken van me werk dat ik nieuwe brushes maak omdat het dan nét even anders moet dan met standaard penselen. Bijvoorbeeld dat ik n
et een andere vorm moet hebben of dat het nét even andere vorm van kleuren en textuur geeft. Omdat ik veel bezig ben met het maken van Stamp brushes (brushes die bepaalde vorm geven, net als gewone stempels 😁). In mijn collectie ontbrak er nog een set met onderwater leven🐠, bootjes⛵️ en wat gerelateerde dingen die met zee en onderwater te hebben.
Ergens vind ik dit thema ook wel bij de zomer passen. En omdat die maar niet komt en waarschijnlijk ook niet gaat komen, dan moet je zelf, maar zomer maken toch?🤷♀️

Wat leeft er onder water? Vissen ….uiteraard! Maar daar zijn er ook duizenden van 😅. Dolfijnen, walvissen, haaien ….😱, zeeschildpadden. Zo kan je eigenlijk wel ontelbaar dingen verzinnen, maar dan was Ik volgend jaar nog niet klaar geweest *giechel*. Het leek mij een goed idee om verschillende vissen te doen, je hebt zoveel vissen en zoveel vormen! Ik heb veel onderzoek gedaan, het is namelijk erg saai om alleen maar ‘sardientjes’ achtige vissen te doen. Maanvissen vind ik erg mooi, maar ook vissen met van die sierlijke staarten(nee geen guppies🐟) maar natuurlijk ook Nemo! Scholen vis moesten er ook bij, meeste soorten zijn bijna altijd in scholen te vinden.
Vrienden zeiden tegen me “Er moeten ook boten enzo bij!⛵️” en wie ben ik om dat te negeren. Ik vind het leuk om een zeilboot te maken, zo’n reusachtig piraten schip en zelfs een onderzeeboot. Met stamp brushes kan je zovéél doen! Maak simpele landschappen die iedereen kan maken! Je hebt hier helemaal geen digitale schilder opleiding voor nodig enkel wat basis beginselen, het is natuurlijk wel een beetje nodig dat je de software die je gebruikt een beetje begrijpt.
Binnenkort zet ik mijn tutorial online over hoe je een ‘Digital Papercut’ maakt, misschien ken je ze wel van je kindertijd. Laagjes uitknippen en dan onder elkaar leggen zodat je laagjes gaat zien. Dit is in principe hetzelfde, maar dan zonder knippen en plakken. Je maakt lagen en ‘schuift’ ze onder elkaar.
Ik heb veel verschillende brushes gebruikt voor dit werkje. Binnenkort zal deze uitleg online staan op deze site in het Nederlands en Engels. 😊 Wel kan je de uitleg al lezen op Patreon, deze is enkel alleen in het Engels. Daar zitten ook de kleuren bij die hier boven ook zijn gebruikt. De brushes zijn niet inbegrepen. Maar improvisatie kan een hoop doen!

Don’t you have to urge to make new brushes while drawing? You need that certain behaviour, size and shape! And it’s not there!😫 I make a lot of stamp brushes because I need them for my works, a fish or a flower. Sometimes drawing them won’t always be the solution. That’s why I decided to expand my collection of brush sets! 🦁

Hoozah! I’m proud to show you this! But what lives underwater exactly? How about ….FISH! 🐠 well doh. But not just fish or only fish. Whales, scary sharks 😱, mantis and so much more! I thought that it would be better if I did not only go for life underwater but also above, not the skies that’s way to high!☀️ But let’s keep it at the waterline. Boats sail on the shores and oceans of our planet from one side to the other.
Friends said I should add fancy boats, pirate ships, sail boats..so I added….a Italian gondola! You know, those they use in Venice 🛶 and I was doing my research. You have so many different fish! In all kinds of shapes, big or small, beautiful or ugly. Not it matters since they are black shapes🤷♀️. Anyway, There’s fish with angelic tails, sardines because why not, Moonfish and Nemo of course! We couldn’t let him out of the pack can we? You can combine them with all kinds of…seaweed, corals and more fish! Otherwise the scenery would be quite empty😊. Add some more and some school of fish to make everything a bit more lively.
Professional artist? I say No!
You don’t need to be a complete professional or have many degrees in art to create simple but effective landscapes (or seascapes🌊). With all kinds of brushes and simple techniques you can create the most beautiful and amazing kinds of art. No matter what kind of software you use, the one you like and are most comfortable with is most important!
Soon a new tutorial with Procreate will be up. Don’t have Procreate, use any type of painting program you want! It’s only about the idea 😉. Remember those paper cuts you used to make at school? Making lots of layers with paper and moving them beneath each other. This will be the same theme but then digital and with a underwater theme!

You can download the color pallete on the Patreon link or add the color codes that are written in the text by hand.
I used many brushes of my pack for this papercut. The seahorse, turtle, fish, weed, star and the moonfish shape are all used. But I’ve got many more brushes in this set for you 😉. The brushes are not attached with the tutorial and palette, but you cvan improve of course!
